Dame Vera Lynn's 100th birthday.

Check Events, a Blackpool-based company, collaborated closely with Dougie Squires OBE to produce the 100th birthday celebrations of Dame Vera Lynn at the prestigious London Palladium. Congo Design was entrusted with the task of designing the lighting, using the venue’s house lighting system and a floor package to enhance the show’s impact.

The event attracted a star-studded audience, including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and featured over 350 performers, a 50-piece orchestra, the RAF Squadronaires, and the Maida Vale choir.

The lighting design, by Dan Creasey, is bold and colourful. There are some nice asides, which are accentuated by contrasting lighting states - a clever way to explain the idea to kids that Macbeth cannot be overheard by other characters a few feet away, while he soliloquises about treason!
